When going to work is a remarkable event

On Monday, a handful of New York media workers passed their first day in their new workplace, the tower that rose from the World Trade Center killing ground. The Conde Nast employees are the first men and women to occupy one of the tenancies in One World Trade Center. They, and others, more than rose to the occasion, and posted their historic presence on social media. Some images, from Instagram, follow:

Known only to herself and her followers, and with a smile as big as the occasion, a woman poses outside the main entrance in the morning.

The woman in the photograph above was not alone.

Words that went with this posting: “So proud of my sis . . . and my entire old team at #condenast who worked endless hours to open #oneworldtradecenter/#thefreedomtower today! It is one of the most intelligent and beautifully designed buildings of our time.”

An auspicious photograph is as much an icon of an engagement as a diamond ring (or not). And this is an engagement photo taken and posted on the day One World Trade Center officially opened.
